Latvian system integrator POLO SYSTEMS has long supported the development of satellite communications with components featuring advanced microwave technologies. With the appearance of compact, easy-to-use very small aperture terminal, the rapid expansion of satellite-based internet connections, data communications and voice connections are gaining in popularity on a global scale.

VSAT systems are used for various purposes:

Microwave & microelectronic technologies to enhance component quality

Satellite communications represent an essential part of the communications infrastructure on which daily life is depended, along with fiber-optic links, ADSL and other terrestrial communications. Also essential is first-class reliability in order perfectly to avoid any interruption to these communications. POLO SYSTEMS is contributing to improving the reliability of VSATs by supplying high-quality components that ensure stable operation over a long period without failing.

VSATs can be found everywhere – from cold climates and highlands to tropical rain forests, deserts, and even offshore. Microwave components of VSATs must be designed and manufactured under condition with being able to offer stable operation over the long term on the consideration to be used in harsh environments. Maintenance-free engineering is particularly important for equipment on ocean-going vessels as repairs are not possible while a ship is at sea.

The expanding satellite communications market

The world market for satellite communications is growing fast: it is estimated that capacity will increase by 20 times in the next 10 years. In parallel with this, there is also going to be a transformation in the types of users – from a small number of government agencies and major companies, the user base will expand to include consumers. It is believed that increased adoption of business continuity plans will also result in more small- and medium-size enterprises making use of satellite communications.

They are high-integration, high video quality, high-stability and multi-function digital TV head-end devices. Adopting high-end audio & video compression technology, it features higher video quality, shorter latency and lower bit rate. There are varieties of encoding modules for your option. Moreover, index parameter of DVB S/S2 RF out is excellent, enabling its application to professional satellite uplink. DMB-S2 has one ASI output, which can be used as other modulator’s program source. Additionally, the device can also serve as independent encoder and independent modulator. It supports program sources from video and surveillance control camera or HD STB, HD camera or server, PC and other diversified video source.

Quadband Satellite Simulator POLO QSS-1

With the Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) becoming operational, our engineers are currently working on our new Quadband Satellite Simulator POLO QSS-1.

It will to meet the rising demand for multiple RF frequency SatCom testing at satellite earth stations and will provide loop-back testing for frequency bands C, X, Ku & Ka almost simultaneously, permitting earth station set-up without the need for connectivity to a satellite. As you may suggest, RF input frequencies for C Band will be 5,850 to 6,425 GHz, output - 3,625 to 4,200 GHz.

The simulator can be used for several applications and markets including ground terminals, VSAT testing, integration, EMI testing and telemetry systems. Our lightweight and easy to operate product will have weatherproof enclosure for outdoor deployment. It provides a compact easy to use training and evaluation tool for satellite earth terminals.

We are looking for a versatile, embedded electronics engineer with solid experience in satellites for a full-time position. The job is based in Latvia. If you are potentially interested, we would be delighted to hear from you.

As an electronics engineer, the candidate will join a collaborative team to develop innovative satellite solutions for multiple projects. The individual will be responsible for hardware development during all phases of a development cycle, including requirements, design, implementation, test, integration and documentation in a fast-paced environment.

The tasks may extend beyond the original job description. This allows everyone to gain a better understanding of all aspects of the business – from engineering to sales. Employees are expected to take initiative and be responsible for their own day-to-day planning and workload.

Requirements are:
Minimum 5 years experience as an electronics engineer, preferably in a satellite design
Experience with electronics CAD software for schematic capture and layout
Experience with soldering for prototyping
Experience using standard electrical test equipment
